That tourism is a bright spot for our economy has been said by Dr. Miro Cerar at the official opening of the 29th Natour Alpe-Adria Trade Show the first day when theJakob Prize was ceremoniously awarded. This year, it has been presented already for the eighth time; the prize for quality and excellence in the Alps- Adriatic region, this time on the topic of Innovative Tourist Programs and the Offer on Wine Roads has been awarded to the Gols Connect Company. The company has been developing a very precise and well-considered offer in the wine growing region Golsa near Neusiedler Lake (Neusiedler See), the largest part of which is in Burgenland in Austria, and its smaller, the southernmost part is in Hungary. The opening of the fair was followed by the discussion with the Minister of Economy Mr. Zdravko Počivalšek, which, like the round table on the development possibilities of motorhome tourism, was moderated by Mr. Drago Bulc, President of the Association of Tourist Journalists of Slovenia. Approximately 90,000 motorhomes, which pass through Slovenia in the summer, were the basis for the development of the project Network of Stops in Slovenia for Motorhomes. The goal of the project is to set up campgrounds for motorhomes with all the necessary facilities
in every Slovenian municipality within a few years. The invited speakers at the round table on How Slovenia Can Become a Recognizable Culinary Destination, and Mrs. Ana Roš among them, were discussing advantages, such as local specificities, and the disadvantages of such a supply, such as the service and the lack of adequate staff. At the press conference of the Novo mesto Institute, the celebration of the 120th birth anniversary of the famous Olympic champion Mr. Leon Štukelj was presented under the slogan "Healthy Spirit in Novo mesto”, marking the year 2018 in the Dolenjska capital. The afternoon of the first day ended in the alpinism spirit, in the company of the Italian-Slovenian climbing couple, Ms. Nives Meroi and Mr. Roman Benet, one of the most successful in the world alpinism; and in the evening with the ceremony to award the PZS prizes for top achievements, among others for life achievements in alpinism for the 2018, which were awarded to Mr. Rado Kočevar and Mr. France Zupan.
The second day of the fair was dedicated to cycling, the 30th anniversary of the Association of Tourist Guides of Slovenia and the local tourist communities of Biograd na moru, Kumrovec, Desinić, Zagorska Sela, the Una National Park and the Kanin Ski Area. Some of them prepared special presentations in the other two fair days: Banja Luka, the Vir island, Kranj and, above all, numerous associations within the Tourist Association of Slovenia, which traditionally represented themselves in the Steklena Hall. The central place in the Marmorna Hall was occupied by the Slovenian Tourist Board as a promotion of the Green, Active and Healthy Slovenia. The Tourism Ljubljana has put in the foreground cultural tourism. The Slovenian Forest Service successfully participated with the possibilities for rural development. This year too, the fair as the central and only such event in Slovenia, has glowed brightly on the promotion of Slovenian tourism and other destinations to the domestic guest with more than 200 participating tourism actors, as well as through the exchange of good practices and discussions that encourage the development of Slovenian tourism. Unfortunately, the visit did not go beyond last year's figures, an obstacle or a less bright spot that accompanied this year's fair, tourist and gastronomic, was an abundant snowfall. From Wednesday to Saturday, from 31st January to 3rd February, the fair was visited by 12,000 people.
