Alpe-Adria Fair, which takes place every year at the end of January at GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, promotes development of tourism, also in the light of a sustainable development. Today's World Tourism Day signifies exactly this theme: Tourism and sustainable energy – the main force of a sustainable development. Jakob prize for quality and excellence in tourism emphasizes the importance of natural and sustainable development. The prize was this year awarded for Innovative tourist programmes in the field of alternative forms of leisure and relaxation.
Besides representing more remote destinations such as Turkey, Spain, Tunisia, Morocco etc., Alpe-Adria Fair represents primarily a tourist offer of the five Alpe-Adria regions: Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Italy, and Hungary. The added value of the fair is the presentation of an offer according to tourist products. The visitors at the fair are guided by icons which illustrate different types of holidays or leisure. The fair therefore brings together wishes with an optimum offer, it enables a direct contact and first hand information. Parallel to Alpe-Adria Fair there is also the Boat Show.
