The Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre promotes the development of green jobs in Slovenia. After hosting the Green Jobs Conference within the Nature-Health Fair in 2012, the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre became a test case establishing criteria for determining how green Slovenian companies are.
Green jobs are decent and environmentally friendly, and as such they aim to promote sustainable development and contribute to the reduction of the environmental impact of companies and economic sectors.
A survey conducted by the Institute of Sustainable Coexistence at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, comprised various areas and all stages of the work process, for instance electricity consumption, use of electronic devices, paper storage and printing, water consumption, waste management, cleaning and the social component.
According to the data collected and the analysis of the green questionnaire, the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre strives towards meeting all national and European regulations on environmental and sustainable business practices. Service, exhibition and convention activities are key business activities of the company and are being constantly developed, mostly on the basis of previously gained knowledge, experience and installations, which are recycled, upgraded and re-used every year; therefore, it can be said that the service activities of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre are very green, as it is stated in the report. The company strives towards sustainability and, at the same time, focuses on green business practices also in the area of the social component by raising awareness of well-being of employees at the workplace and in the work process.
